About the Doctor

Dr. Amy McConnell is originally from Glastonbury, Connecticut. She did her undergraduate studies at Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania, where she graduated cum laude in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta (Premedical Honor Society). She volunteered extensively in hospitals and nursing homes in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Florida.

Having an uncle who is a chiropractor, Dr. McConnell grew up knowing the tremendous benefits of chiropractic care. When she decided to pursue a career in chiropractic, she chose to attend Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2000 with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. She was accepted into Pi Tau Delta (International Chiropractic Honor Society). She received her training in physiotherapy from New York Chiropractic College. Dr. McConnell is National Board certified in Chiropractic and Physiotherapy from the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

After obtaining her Florida chiropractic license, Dr. McConnell began practicing in Venice, Florida in 2001. She relocated to Sarasota and opened Gentle Care Chiropractic in 2014. Since her move to Sarasota, she has also trained in laser therapy (both Class 4 and Class 3B lasers) and has found laser therapy to be a wonderful addition to her practice.
Dr. McConnell is Advanced Proficiency rated in the Activator Methods Technique and attends yearly seminars to maintain her advanced certification. She is a member of the Florida Chiropractic Association.

Dr. McConnell is a participating provider with Medicare. She participates with ChiroHealthUSA to help patients and families to have access to more affordable chiropractic care.
